The 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship gets under way on 30–31 May at Misano World Circuit in Italy. It is the 20th full season of the current format, with seven race weekends, four races at every event, live broadcasting and packed grandstands.
Norbert Kiss is the reigning champion, so the Révész Racing MAN carries the number 1 this year. The stakes are as high as ever: another title would be his eighth and would extend his own record. His rivals include last year's runner-up and six-time champion Jochen Hahn, three-time champion Antonio Albacete in an all-new MAN, plus Sascha Lenz, Steffi Halm and René Reinert.
A new era: the FIA takes charge
From 2026 the FIA runs the series in full. Besides overseeing the sporting and technical regulations, it now manages partnerships, the calendar, circuit relations, competitor engagement and paddock operations directly. The aim is to strengthen the championship's long-term growth, from the sporting side to media exposure and sustainability.
We had such a good run in the past seasons. We were successful, the team enjoyed it, and the team stays the same, so our target stays the same. I love to race, I love the preparation, the technical aspect as well. I just like to be there on the race weekend, to do the free practice, the qualifying, the races and to try to win and to try to be the best on any given day. If you do well during the whole season it hopefully adds up to another championship, which of course is the cherry on the top.
Sustainability
Back in 2021 the series became the first FIA-sanctioned championship to switch to fully sustainable biofuel (TotalEnergies). This year's Goodyear tyres contain 60 per cent sustainable materials, five per cent more than in 2025, and the racing tyres are retreaded into standard truck tyres instead of being thrown away.
How a race weekend works
- Four races per event: two on Saturday and two on Sunday.
- The grids for Races 1 and 3 are set by a three-stage qualifying.
- For Races 2 and 4 the top eight finishers of the previous race start in reverse order, which makes the second races so spectacular.
- Speed is limited to 160 km/h, the trucks produce around 1,200 bhp and the minimum weight is 5,300 kg.
